I hear what you are saying, however to get back to average that would assume all of the people who's deaths have been accelerated by the virus were going to die this year.

Which, of course, is not the case.

Are you sure it's not the case?

Also, even if more people do die for the year, there can still be another factor - the lockdown.  So, it's really very hard to know anything yet.

It may suggest you are correct, but it doesn't prove it, or even make it fairly certain.  If CV19 is only a small factor in most of these deaths (which remains to be seen), then the current spike could easily be balanced by a drop through the remaining year.  The total figure in 2018 was 616,014.  CV19 is officially at 16,500.  If the total ends up about the same as in 2018, and CV19 was only a small factor, then you can't reasonably say CV19 has been significant, and certainly not that it killed any more than 300 people.

Rubbish.

And here's the evidence.

To be honest, you paid up too early, because it may well turn out that less than 300 was the true death toll "from CV19".

Rubbish.

And here's the evidence.

In normal times Tommy, but these are not normal times.

The Borders General Hospital has been given funding for folk with the Sino Sniffles, but at this time of the year the entire population of the Borders gets on its horse and falls off because it is either sh*t faced drunk, drugged out of its head or because it has shot its arse off, so the local medics have earmarked the beds for the more interesting cases. Once the story breaks the circulation of the Border Telegraph will soar and with it shares in its owners, the Forth and Clyde Press.

Buy man, buy!

Well at the minute borkie my head is done in with hmrc.

Is there anyone actually left at that feckin organisation that answers phones? Or have they sacked them all and outsourced it to some mud hut in mumbai?

As for the borders borkie , theres no cant in the borders since james baggy breeks stewart the turd deported them all to northern ireland after faithfully serving the scottish crown for centuries in rape larceny and pillage.

theres 5 .5 million in scotland , an area roughly two thirds the size of england , and 500 of them live in the borders , and most of them are second home owners from essex hence the constant return of tory politicians in the area.

I am surprised given the outbreak of Destroy-It-Yourselfing  and gardening amongst my neighbours that the casualy departments are not full.

I have seen one ambulance escorted by a police car leaving the estate where I live but as yet I have no idea at all what that was about.

Keep your bawbees under the bed Tommy. Or maybe just fold the notes which is about the only way anyone will double their money in these uncertain times. Even Dignity PLC is going arse over tea kettle, down the hill and into the poor house.

About the only sure thing that I can see is the Border Telegraph. Apparently the SNP has instructed Borders General to evict all the Covid 19 cases because the beds will be needed for the casualties from the summer riding accidents. So buy shares in the Forth and Clyde Press. Once the scandal breaks the shares will soar and you will be able to join the Tory party.

Ah the auld bawbee, a reminder of the days when we were part of the french european union. The auld bawbee was a corruption of the french boubillion , a french coin that used to circulate in scotland back in the days when the scottish had french passports , and automatic right of french citizenship before  England went crying to the french in 1902 during the entente cordialle and begged them to rescind this 700 years old right.

You are having a laugh borkie , buy shares in print?

I got offered a job years ago as a number 2 printer at murdochs plant  and i thought feck that , feck uprooting my family to go down there , and it was the best decision i ever made.

FFS borkie , and you tell us you have a flutter on the stock market?

Remind me never to take any of your advice , i dont think my meagre funds could withstand the loss rate.

No bets, I bet Barry £200 that the death toll would not exceed 300 and I ended up paying the Kennomeat bill for Battersea Dogs' Home. That said, I reckon the epidemic peaked about ten days ago and pretty soon we will have to find something else to make a fuss over.

What health checks would those be, Thomas.

Temperature check - ineffective.

Swabs - take 2 days.

Sweating - might be nervous.

Your Joanna Cherry talks a lot of old codswallop, so she does.

Useless, these SNP hijackers.

Well thats interesting barry. We have another example of your british exceptionalism here , "we know best" compared to the rest of the world.

Most other nations around the world are putting health screening measures in at ports , trump has literally stopped immigration into america , massive drop in worldwide travel with many countries severely locking down , and barry says its all ineffective , carry on as normal , the uk knows best.

This is barry that was lecturing us all on and off on this forum going back to february that the uk herd immunity strategy was the way to go........the young and fit would be immune after exposure in no time , 80 % herd immunity.

The reality? Not one country in the world except the yookay  considered herd immunity as a viable strategy with even the maverick trump mocking it , and the uk quickly and publicly backtracked , with tory bots like "patman post" being sent out to deny it was ever a plan.

WHO data shows barely 2/3 % of people across the world in each country are actually developing the antibodies to give herd immunity , a far cry from barry the conservatives predictions based on his parties mantra.

Again we hear dereliction of duty and lack of leadership on the media this morning with reference to your beloved dear leader and his government.

Plenty of folk talking "codswallop" i agree , and most of it emanating from tory party HQ and their lackeys in england.

Thats just the "official " hospital deaths borkie , not the total deaths. Good luck if you think this is going to be over in a few weeks.

Want a bet on that? You fink it will be over by 4th may?
