Toots probably expected more.

One of my managers was a baron. Nice bloke, but no one was taking their hat off to him and we made a point of pissing him off even more than the other poor sods put in charge of us.

Peerages were alright when they threw in some broad acres and a castle or two, but these days it just means that you are easily bought.

My woman's sister is married a Maltese count, so she is now a countess. The odd castle or two is almost there. They have a huge 17th century mansion which sits out on the headland all by itself at the top of the hill. It comes complete with its own chapel and they also get a town house thrown in as well, which is in your William Kent style, and they made it into a top class hotel, suitable for EU bureaucrats. They have the EU commissioner's suites in all but name. You see Malta is an EU summer conference centre. You'd never meet this type at work because they don't! They breed polo horses.

Noble sentiments Tommy that do you nothing but credit. Personally I don't mind the lies and hypocrisy which I see as merely the small change of politics. Saints are all very well but they tend to spend so much time being saints that they get sod all done. As long as the Conservatives get us out of the EU I don't care how many peerages are handed out by way of bungs.

nothing noble about me borkie.

Im of the opinion the snp need to get down on the ground and get dirty and emulate the tories.

Thats why im of the opinion that while boris is handing out peerages like confetti , the snp should be handing out referendum ballot papers with two fingers stuck up to westminster.

Aye but its the hypocrisy of the conservative party (and other british parties who indulge in peerages) and perception among the public which is the important bit.

So much for johnsons brave new conservative world , seems like same sh*t different day to me so far.

I think the brussells parliament has quite a bit to go yet before it catches up with the wiles and machinations of the mother of all anti democratic parliaments.

Swinson is a muppet well shot of , but as far as i know she hasnt been offered or taken a peerage , so throwing more mud at her for something she hasnt done is a bit rich toots when the tories are doing far worse and have done far worse in terms of the upper house retirement home.

Jo is hankering after a seat in the Lords and becoming a Baroness. Another reason to reduce the upper house.

Nick " i will never serve under boris johnson" morgan given swift peerage to continue to serve as culture secretary?

Take the piss out of swinson all you want toots , but remember when in glass houses you shouldnae throw stones.....

QuoteDowning Street confirmed that Ms Morgan is being made a Conservative peer in order to remain in the post as Boris Johnson carried out a mini-reshuffle.

Ms Morgan announced in October that she would not be contesting the Loughborough seat she had held since 2010, claiming "the abuse for doing the job of a modern MP" was one of the reasons for her decision.

In a letter to the chairman of the Loughborough Conservative Association, the former Education Secretary said: "The clear impact on my family and the other sacrifices involced in, and the abuse for, doing the job of a modern MP can only be justified if, ultimately, Parliament does what it is supposed to do - represent those we serve in all areas of policy, respect votes cast by the electorate and make decisions in the overall national interest."

In 2018, she also said that she would "not serve in a Boris Johnson Cabinet" after he accused Theresa May of strapping the UK to a "suicide vest" over the Brexit deal she agreed with Brussels.

Critics were quick to hit out at Ms Morgan's appointment.

You are mistaken I dislike the EU as an organisation same as you do not like Westminster interfering in your country , I don't like the EU interfering in mine, I don't dislike other nations or people I enjoy travel and visiting other countries.

Exactly my point. Thats why when you inferred i dislike england , i said you do me a disservice and went on to elaborate much the same as you have done about the eu churchill. :)

Well you won't find it the Socialist Worker, or Hamas Times has your mechanised satellite dish seized up.

Sky reported  Sir Ed Davey Co Leader of the Lib Dems, he stated that if if Boris Johnson carries out a Dissolution Honours List he would like to see Swinson back in polotics as soon as possible, and the only way that could happen would be a Peerage

That is not Swinson asking for a peerage.

I have seen no such media/press reporting that she wants to go to the House of Lords.

In any case people who want to get a peerage rarely do.

What's the point? look yourself it's in plenty of places in the media but you'll just reject any link to that by saying "that's NOT evidence" as is your usual MO.
